My Beauty Budget: I’ll Splurge on This Game-Changer

BY AN ORANGETWIST LOVING CLIENT, AS TOLD TO ORANGETWIST

I’m a nurse, and I work these long 12-hour shifts. I don’t have a lot of time for a big beauty routine, but as long as I moisturize, I’m good.

Ever since I was 15, I’ve been really good about sunscreen. Always. And I remember even being a teenager and my friends would make fun of me because I’d wear the big hat and I would always wear sunscreen and a big white T-shirt over my bikini until the sun went down. Now, I find that among my friends, I look much younger. If you saw me, I don’t think you’d think I was 53, for sure. I think just the important thing is to make sure that you stay out of the sun. The sun’s not always your friend.

I can’t say that I’m extravagant with my beauty dollars—maybe about $100 a month—but I will splurge on a HydraFacial. I liked the way I feel afterward. My skin is so moisturized and smooth and I can even feel it from the inside. A lot of times when you leave a facial, sometimes your skin might even seem a little dry, but this is just wonderful. It’s just so nice.

I have used Alastin Restorative Skin Complex, and I really like it a lot. I have gotten Botox a couple of times, and right now I’m getting BBL treatments to get rid of a couple of moles.

I don’t wear a lot of makeup, but I do shop at Sephora—there are some great discounts when you’re a member.

It’s important for people to know that you don’t have to be a beauty junkie to take care of your skin. You can highlight your natural beauty. Oh, and vitamins. I always take my vitamins. And work out five times a week—it’s really important to take care of your bones.
