OrangeTwist is among the first aesthetic treatment spas in the nation to offer CoolTone, a new muscle-strengthening and toning product from Allergan, the creators of the CoolSculpting non-invasive fat-reduction treatment.
FDA-approved CoolTone uses non-invasive, precise electromagnetic stimulation to maximally contract muscles in the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks. It’s the same sort of contraction as doing sit-ups or squats, except it’s the equivalent of doing 30,000 of them in a half-hour, and there’s no physical exertion or exhaustion involved. This helps amplify any strengthening and toning a person could get from exercise alone, says Brittney Morris, OrangeTwist regional director, and licensed master esthetician.
“Each time you do it, you’re going to build more muscle tone and muscle definition. It’s so great for strengthening the areas of the body,” Morris says. “We are really excited to offer this.”
The typical regimen for the best result is two treatments per week for two weeks. A session is 30 minutes long, the guest is fully clothed and there’s no downtime or pain afterward. Morris recommends follow-up sessions once a month or once a quarter.
CoolTone results will be most apparent for those who already have a lower body-fat percentage and are within 15 pounds of their ideal weight or who have already completed their successful CoolSculpting treatments. CoolSculpting freezes stubborn fat cells so that the body can eliminate them naturally over the course of one to three months.
“CoolTone is a perfect pairing with CoolSculpting to get that last little icing on that cake, the last little definition to really make you feel and look your very best. They complement each other very well,” Morris says.
Though CoolTone sounds like a shortcut to reaching your fitness goals, there’s still work involved. If someone’s living a sedentary lifestyle and not maintaining their CoolTone results, that strength and definition will become less apparent over time. It’s not supposed to be a replacement for working out but an enhancement.
“Sometimes life gets in the way—we can’t always make it to the gym. So CoolTone is at least there to help us out,” Morris says. “CoolTone complements your workout routine and takes you to the next level. If you’ve hit a plateau at the gym and you’re not really seeing the results you want, this helps get you to the ideal body you’ve worked so hard for.”
CoolTone is for nearly anyone who wants to see more muscle definition, but it can’t be used over implanted medical devices such as pacemakers or on some people with certain medical conditions or who are pregnant. Women who are menstruating may want to wait until their cycle is overdue to the possibility of intensified cramping.
The OrangeTwist Connection As one of the West’s leading collection of aesthetic treatment shops, OrangeTwist already offers a comprehensive suite of products and services to clients who want to look and feel their best and has performed more CoolSculpting procedures than any other provider in the country—50,000 and counting. CoolTone is a logical addition as we continue to evolve and expand our offerings.
