Chemical Peels at OrangeTwist
Smoother. Brighter. Clearer. Chemical peels are the original skin resurfacing treatment, and there is a reason they have stayed on the menu for decades. The right peel, in the right hands, gives you the kind of glow that does not come out of a bottle.
About the treatment

The original resurfacing treatment.
A chemical peel uses a tailored blend of acids to lift away dull surface skin and reveal the brighter, smoother skin underneath. From a light glow peel that fits into a lunch break to deeper resurfacing for pigmentation and texture, OrangeTwist offers the full range, matched to your skin and your downtime tolerance.
- Light, medium, and deeper peels
- Brightens, smooths, evens tone
- Tailored to your skin
Peel by peel, the glow shows up
Light peels deliver an immediate glow that lasts one to two weeks. Best results come from a course of four to six sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, where each peel builds on the last. Medium peels deliver more dramatic single-session change, but the visible peeling phase is part of the deal.

What is a chemical peel and how does it work?
A chemical peel uses an acid solution applied to clean skin to gently lift away the upper layer of dead, dull, or discolored cells. As that layer is replaced, your skin reveals a fresher, smoother, more even surface underneath. Different acids work at different depths and target different concerns, which is why your provider matches the peel to your specific goals.
Light peels (glycolic, lactic, mandelic) work at the surface and are designed for a quick glow boost with minimal downtime. Medium-depth peels (TCA, Jessner’s, salicylic) reach further and address pigmentation, acne marks, and texture. Deeper peels are reserved for specific clinical use and almost always carry meaningful downtime.
OrangeTwist also offers PRX-T33, a peel that breaks the usual peel rule entirely. PRX-T33 delivers similar benefits to a traditional peel without surface peeling or social downtime. It works at depth without damaging the surface, which makes it a popular choice for clients who want the glow without the visible recovery window.

The OrangeTwist Difference
The right peel is the one matched to your skin, your goals, and the week you actually live in. Our providers walk through depth, downtime, and timing honestly at your You Review.
Peels work best as a course. We price packages of sessions transparently at your You Review, with TwistUp member benefits across every visit.
OrangeTwist stocks ALASTIN, ZO Skin Health, SkinCeuticals, and Epicutis in-center. Your provider will recommend the medical-grade products that keep your peel results going between sessions.

Bright, welcoming, and run by people who genuinely care about your experience. Nothing like a clinical environment.

Your Treatment Timeline

You Review
Your provider will examine your skin, discuss your goals, and recommend the right peel and depth for your case. Lighter peels can often be delivered on the same day. Medium peels are usually scheduled separately so your provider can map out the timing around your life and any other treatments.

Peel Prep
Stop retinoids and active acids for five to seven days before your session. Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for two weeks beforehand. Come in with a clean face. Let your provider know about any active cold sores, acne, or recent skincare changes.

The Treatment
Your provider will cleanse your skin and apply the peel solution in layers, building intensity as appropriate. You will feel mild to moderate warmth and tingling depending on the peel depth, spicy but easily manageable. Treatment takes 30 to 45 minutes.

Aftercare
Downtime depends on the peel depth. Light peels: a few hours of mild redness, ready for makeup the next day. Medium peels: three to seven days of visible peeling and flaking. PRX-T33: no real downtime at all. Your provider will share specific aftercare and product recommendations for your peel type.
PRX-T33 builds over a course of four to six sessions, with no downtime in between.
Most clients combine peels with other treatments (HydraFacial, microneedling, medical-grade skincare) for compounded results. Your provider will design the plan, not push the product.

Chemical Peel Frequently Asked
Questions and Answers
The questions clients ask most often before booking a chemical peel. If yours is not here, ask your provider at your You Review.
A chemical peel uses an acid solution applied to clean skin to lift away the upper layer of dead, dull, or discolored cells, revealing the fresher skin underneath. Different acids work at different depths and target different concerns.
OrangeTwist offers light peels (glycolic, lactic, mandelic), medium peels (salicylic, TCA, Jessner’s), and the PRX-T33 No-Peel Peel which delivers benefits without surface peeling or downtime. Your provider will recommend the right peel for your skin at your You Review.
Light peels work at the surface and give a quick glow boost with minimal downtime. Medium peels reach further and address pigmentation, acne marks, and texture more substantially, with visible peeling for three to seven days. Your provider will recommend the right depth based on your concern, goals, and downtime tolerance.
PRX-T33 is a peel that does not peel. It uses similar active ingredients to a traditional peel but in a formulation designed to work deeper without damaging the surface skin. You get the benefits without the flaking or downtime. See our dedicated PRX-T33 page for more detail.
Chemical peels are effective for dullness, fine lines, sun damage, pigmentation, acne marks, congested skin, and surface texture. Your provider will assess which concern is dominant and match the peel to that.
Yes, with the right peel and the right protocol. Some peels (mandelic, lactic, and PRX-T33) are particularly well-suited to darker skin tones. Deeper TCA peels carry more risk of pigment changes in darker skin and are used carefully. Your provider will recommend a peel matched to your phototype.
Yes. Peels are matched to skin type, concern, and lifestyle. Every OrangeTwist client starts with a complimentary You Review where your provider will assess your skin and recommend the right peel and protocol.
Let your provider know about any active acne, cold sores, current skincare including retinoids or active acids, recent sun exposure or self-tanner, history of pigmentation issues, and any medications including isotretinoin.
Pricing depends on the peel type and depth. Light peels are the most affordable. PRX-T33 and deeper peels are priced higher. Most clients buy peels as a course. Your provider will walk through exact pricing at your You Review. TwistUp members receive exclusive pricing benefits.
Most peel sessions take 30 to 45 minutes.
Most clients see best results across a course of four to six peels, spaced four to six weeks apart. Maintenance every three to six months keeps results building.
Yes. OrangeTwist offers financing through CareCredit, Alle Cherry, and PatientFi. Ask your provider about options at your You Review.
Light peels deliver an immediate glow within hours. Medium peels show their full result after the peeling phase, typically a week to ten days. PRX-T33 builds over a course, with visible brightness within days and deeper improvement over months.
A single light peel result lasts one to two weeks. Course results build cumulatively and can last several months. Maintenance every three to six months extends results long-term.
Some peels can help with melasma, but melasma is one of the trickier pigmentation concerns and requires careful treatment selection. Lighter peels like mandelic are often a safer starting point than deeper TCA peels. Your provider will assess and recommend honestly.
With medium-depth peels, yes, briefly. Visible peeling and flaking are part of the process and signal the treatment is working. Most clients reach a glow phase within seven to ten days. With light peels and PRX-T33, no, there is no awkward in-between phase.
Most peels are comfortable. The sensation during application is warmth and tingling, on the spicier end for deeper peels but easily managed. No numbing is typically needed.
Light peels: a few hours of mild redness, ready for makeup the next day. Medium peels: three to seven days of visible peeling and flaking. PRX-T33: no real downtime at all. Your provider will walk you through what to expect for the specific peel at your You Review.
For one to two weeks depending on peel depth: avoid retinoids, active acids, harsh exfoliants, intense workouts, saunas, and direct sun. Apply SPF 30 or higher every day. Do not pick or peel the flaking skin, let it shed on its own.
Light peels and PRX-T33: makeup is fine immediately or within 24 hours. Medium peels: wait until the visible peeling has finished, typically five to seven days. Mineral makeup is gentler on recovering skin.
Yes. Chemical peels have decades of clinical use and a strong safety record when performed by trained professionals at appropriate depths for the skin type. At OrangeTwist, every peel is matched to your skin and applied by a licensed esthetician or provider.
Peels are generally not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection or open wound in the treatment area, have an active cold sore outbreak, have an active severe acne flare, have used isotretinoin (Accutane) in the past six months, or have a known allergy to any peel ingredients. Always disclose your full medication and health history at your You Review.
Common side effects include redness, dryness, peeling, and mild irritation. All are expected and resolve as the skin renews. Rare side effects include unexpected pigment changes or prolonged irritation, which is why peel selection and provider technique matter.
All chemical peels at OrangeTwist are performed by licensed estheticians or providers with specific training in peel chemistry, skin assessment, and protocol. Our team is supervised by our Medical Advisory Board.
