What is Restylane Kysse and how does it work?
Restylane Kysse is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid filler from Galderma, specifically designed for lip enhancement. What sets Kysse apart is XpresHAn Technology, which gives the filler flexibility and stretch. Lips move constantly when you talk, smile, kiss, and eat, and a lip filler that cannot move with that motion ends up looking and feeling artificial.
Like all hyaluronic acid fillers, Restylane Kysse adds volume directly in the layer where the body’s own hyaluronic acid has thinned, smoothing fine lines and enhancing shape in the process. Because Kysse is specifically formulated for the lips, it integrates softly into lip tissue and avoids the firm, overdone look associated with denser filler products used outside their intended area.

They will walk through pricing transparently and discuss whether one syringe or a more gradual two-stage approach suits your goals.
Onboarding
Avoid blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, and vitamin E for a few days before your appointment where possible. Skip alcohol for 24 hours beforehand. Avoid intensive workouts the morning of. Come in with clean lips, free of lipstick or lip products. Eat beforehand. Hydrate.
Ongoing Care
Your provider will apply topical numbing cream, sometimes combined with a dental block for clients who prefer additional comfort. Restylane Kysse also contains lidocaine, which makes the injections themselves more comfortable. The procedure takes 30 to 45 minutes. Most clients describe the sensation as spicy and contained, gone in moments.
Maintenance and Transition
Expect significant swelling for 24 to 72 hours, especially for the first day. Use cool compresses (with a clean cloth between ice and skin), sleep elevated, and avoid pressure on the treated area for 24 hours. Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol, and heat exposure for 24 to 48 hours. Avoid drinking from a straw and pursing the lips for the first day. Your provider will share specific aftercare.

Common side effects include swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness at the injection sites. Lip swelling can be dramatic in the first 24 to 72 hours but settles. Rare side effects include lumps, asymmetry, cold sore reactivation, or, very rarely, vascular complications.
Lip filler does not cause cold sores, but the injection process can reactivate the virus in clients who carry it. If you have a history of cold sores, let your provider know at your You Review. They may recommend antiviral prophylaxis taken before and after treatment.
