Injectables
Collagen Stimulators at OrangeTwist
Build collagen back, slowly and naturally. Long-lasting results that work with your face, not over it. Biostimulators like Sculptra and Radiesse train your skin to rebuild its own support structure, with results that develop month by month.
About the treatment

Collagen is a Love Language
Where traditional fillers add volume directly, collagen stimulators work differently. They trigger your skin to produce its own new collagen over a course of treatments. The result is firmer, smoother, more supported skin, built from the inside, that lasts significantly longer than HA fillers.
- Builds your own collagen
- Long-lasting, natural results
- Works with your face
What are collagen stimulators and how do they work?
Collagen stimulators, also called biostimulators, are FDA-approved injectables that prompt the body to produce its own new collagen. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers that add immediate volume, biostimulators work gradually over weeks and months. The visible improvement comes from your own collagen rebuilding the structure of the skin from underneath.
Two products lead this category. Sculptra, made from poly-L-lactic acid, is dissolved into the skin in microparticles that trigger fibroblasts (the cells that produce collagen) to ramp up production. Results build over three to six months and last around two years on average. Radiesse, made from calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a gel carrier, delivers some immediate volume alongside collagen stimulation, with results that typically last 12 to 18 months.
Because the result comes from your own collagen, biostimulator treatments tend to look and feel natural. The skin does not appear filled. It appears restored. Your provider will recommend the right product based on the areas being treated, the type of correction needed, and your timeline.

Your Treatment Timeline

You Review
Your provider will assess your skin, examine the areas you want to address, and recommend whether Sculptra, Radiesse, or a combination suits your goals. They will walk through realistic timelines (collagen takes time to build) and pricing for the full course before anything is booked.

Onboarding
Avoid blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, and vitamin E for a few days before your appointment where possible. Skip alcohol for 24 hours beforehand. Eat beforehand. Hydrate well in the days leading up. Come in with a clean face.

Ongoing Care
Your provider will mark the injection points and apply topical numbing. The product is injected in small amounts across the treatment area. Most clients describe the sensation as a manageable spicy. Treatment takes 30 to 45 minutes.

Maintenance and Transition
For Sculptra, you will be asked to massage the treated areas at home for several days after treatment, in a specific pattern your provider will demonstrate. This helps the product disperse evenly. Avoid strenuous exercise and heat exposure for 24 hours. Mild swelling, redness, or bruising is normal and settles over the following days.
The slow build, the long pay-off.
Collagen stimulators are a different timeline from HA fillers. Initial swelling after Sculptra masks the final result, and the treated areas may look temporarily fuller right after. As that settles, the actual result is the new collagen that builds underneath. You will see meaningful change after four to six weeks, and continued improvement for three to six months as collagen production continues.
Most clients need two to three sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, to reach their goal. Results last around two years on average for Sculptra and 12 to 18 months for Radiesse. An annual maintenance session keeps results building over time.

Questions and Answers
Collagen stimulators, also called biostimulators, are FDA-approved injectables that prompt the body to produce its own new collagen. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers that add immediate volume, biostimulators work gradually over weeks and months. The visible improvement comes from your own collagen, rebuilt from underneath.
Sculptra is the lead collagen stimulator in aesthetic medicine. It is made from poly-L-lactic acid, a biodegradable material that has been used in medical applications for decades. When injected, Sculptra microparticles trigger fibroblasts to produce new collagen. Results build over three to six months and last around two years on average.
Radiesse is a collagen stimulator made from calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a gel carrier. Unlike Sculptra, Radiesse delivers some immediate volume alongside the collagen stimulation. Results typically last 12 to 18 months and are particularly effective for jawline contouring and hand rejuvenation.
HA fillers (like JUVÉDERM and Restylane) add immediate volume that lasts six to 18 months and can be reversed with hyaluronidase. Collagen stimulators trigger your own collagen production. Results build gradually over months and last significantly longer, but they are not reversible the same way.
Neither is better in isolation. They do different jobs. HA fillers are ideal for immediate, targeted, reversible volume (lips, tear troughs, fine lines). Collagen stimulators are better for broader structural restoration and longer-lasting results in larger areas like cheeks, jawline, and décolletage. Many clients use both.
Common treatment areas include cheeks, jawline, temples, marionette lines, hands, and décolletage. Some collagen stimulators have off-label clinical use for body laxity (knees, upper arms, abdomen). Your provider will discuss what is appropriate at your You Review.
Yes. Biostimulators are a structured course with a different timeline from HA fillers, so a thorough consultation is essential. Every OrangeTwist client starts with a complimentary You Review where your provider will assess your goals, recommend the right product, and walk through realistic timelines.
Let your provider know about any autoimmune conditions, previous biostimulator treatments, current medications, blood thinners, allergies, and skin conditions. The more your provider knows, the better the plan.
Good candidates are clients with mild to moderate volume loss, early skin laxity, or those wanting longer-lasting alternatives to HA fillers. Biostimulators are not typically the right choice for delicate areas like the lips or under-eyes. Your provider will assess and recommend honestly at your You Review.
Pricing depends on the product and the number of vials or syringes needed. Because biostimulators are a structured course, OrangeTwist prices the full plan transparently at your You Review. TwistUp members receive exclusive pricing benefits on all treatments.
Most sessions take 30 to 45 minutes. Allow additional time for topical numbing to take effect. If combining your You Review with treatment in the same visit, allow around 90 minutes.
Most clients need two to three sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, to reach their initial goal. An annual maintenance session keeps results building over time. Your provider will set realistic expectations at your You Review.
Yes. OrangeTwist offers financing through CareCredit, Alle Cherry, and PatientFi. Ask your provider about options at your You Review.
Results build gradually. Initial swelling after Sculptra masks the final outcome for the first one to two weeks. You will see meaningful change at four to six weeks, with continued improvement over three to six months as collagen production continues. Radiesse delivers some immediate volume with continued collagen-led improvement.
Sculptra results last around two years on average. Radiesse results typically last 12 to 18 months. Annual maintenance sessions keep results building over time. Individual longevity varies based on lifestyle, sun exposure, and your individual metabolism.
Yes, and many clients do. Biostimulators combine well with HA fillers (for immediate volume in delicate areas), RF microneedling (for surface texture and skin quality), and Botox (for expression lines). Your provider will design a treatment sequence at your You Review.
You may look slightly fuller immediately after treatment due to the diluent used during injection. This settles within a few days, and the visible result comes from the new collagen that builds underneath over the following weeks.
Yes. Sculptra requires specific post-treatment massage at home, typically five times a day for five days. This helps the product disperse evenly and prevents the formation of nodules. Your provider will demonstrate the technique before you leave the Treatment Shop.
For the first 24 to 48 hours: avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot environments; skip alcohol; avoid pressure on the treated areas (other than the prescribed massage for Sculptra); and hold off on other facial treatments for two weeks.
Mild swelling typically settles within a few days. Bruising, when it occurs, usually fades within a week. Your provider will share what to expect for your specific treatment areas.
Wait at least 24 hours before applying makeup to treated areas. Apply gently when you do. Avoid pressing or massaging the skin during application (other than the prescribed Sculptra massage, if applicable).
Yes. Sculptra and Radiesse have strong clinical safety records and decades of medical use. At OrangeTwist, every biostimulator treatment is performed by a licensed provider with specific advanced injector training.
Biostimulators are generally not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection in the treatment area, have certain autoimmune conditions, have a history of keloid scarring, or have a known allergy to any product ingredients. Always disclose your full medication and health history at your You Review.
Common side effects include temporary swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness at the injection sites, all of which resolve within days. The most notable risk specific to biostimulators is nodule formation, which is why proper technique and post-treatment massage matter. Your provider will walk through risks at your You Review.
Not in the same way HA fillers can. Collagen stimulators are designed to integrate with the tissue and stimulate the body’s own collagen, so dissolution is not straightforward. This is one reason proper consultation, conservative dosing, and experienced injectors matter so much in this category.
Yes. Biostimulators work independently of skin tone. The treatment principle (stimulating your own collagen) is the same across all skin types. Treatment technique is tailored to facial anatomy, not pigmentation.
Collagen stimulators are an advanced injectable category that requires deeper anatomical knowledge and more experience than HA fillers. At OrangeTwist, every biostimulator treatment is performed by a licensed provider with specific advanced injector training, continuously updated on the latest protocols, and supervised by our Medical Advisory Board.
