What is SKINVIVE and how does it work?
SKINVIVE by JUVEDERM is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid microdroplet injectable from Allergan Aesthetics, the same company that makes Botox Cosmetic, JUVEDERM fillers, and the Alle rewards program. SKINVIVE was approved by the FDA in 2023 and is the first product of its kind approved in the United States for improving cheek smoothness in adults.
Unlike traditional JUVEDERM fillers, which add volume in a specific area, SKINVIVE is injected as small microdroplets evenly across the cheek. The hyaluronic acid attracts and holds water in the skin, improving hydration and smoothness from within. The result is a quiet, ambient glow rather than added volume.
SKINVIVE is best understood as a skin quality treatment, similar in goal to a skin booster but with the FDA approval, clinical research, and brand credentials of the JUVEDERM family behind it. Onboarding
Avoid blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, and vitamin E for a few days before your appointment where possible. Skip alcohol for 24 hours beforehand. Come in with a clean face. Eat beforehand. Hydrate.
Ongoing Care
Your provider will apply topical numbing and inject SKINVIVE as small microdroplets evenly across the cheeks. The procedure is quick, typically 20 to 30 minutes. Most clients describe the sensation as a series of small, spicy moments, manageable and contained.
Maintenance and Transition
Expect mild swelling and small visible bumps at the injection sites for several hours after treatment, settling within 12 to 24 hours. Use cool compresses if needed, sleep elevated, and avoid pressure on the treated area for 24 hours. Skip strenuous exercise and heat exposure for 24 hours. Most clients are camera-ready the next day.
