Regenerative
PRP and PRF at OrangeTwist
Use what your body already makes. PRP uses your own platelets and growth factors to renew skin, restore hair, and rebuild what time has thinned. Real biology. Real results. No prescription required.
About the treatment

Your own biology, doing the work.
PRP and PRF are different from injectables that add something to your face. They use your own platelets, drawn from a small sample of your blood, to trigger renewal at the cellular level. The result is improvement that looks completely natural because it is. Your body did the work. We just gave it the signal.
- Uses your own biology
- For face and scalp
- Naturally regenerative results
What are PRP and PRF and how do they work?
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. Both are made from a small sample of your own blood, processed in-center to concentrate the platelets and growth factors that drive your body’s natural healing response. The concentrate is then injected or applied to the treatment area, where it signals your skin or scalp to renew, repair, and rebuild.
PRP has been used in medicine for decades, including in orthopedics and sports recovery, with well-established aesthetic applications. It is the more familiar of the two procedures. PRF is the newer generation. It uses a slower processing speed that preserves a wider range of cellular components, including white blood cells and some stem cells, in a fibrin scaffold that releases growth factors over a longer period. Many providers prefer PRF for its sustained release profile.
Neither PRP nor PRF is a single treatment. Both are flexible protocols that your provider will design around your specific concern. For hair restoration, the concentrate is typically injected across the scalp. For under-eye rejuvenation, smaller volumes are injected in the hollows beneath the eye. For broader facial skin quality, PRP or PRF is often combined with microneedling to deliver the growth factors deeper into the skin.

The OrangeTwist Difference
PRP and PRF require careful blood handling, sterile preparation, and trained injection technique. Every session at OrangeTwist is performed by a licensed provider with specific training on the protocol and supervised by our Medical Advisory Board.
Regenerative treatments work best as a course, not a single visit. We price the realistic full protocol transparently at your You Review and walk through what to expect at each stage.
PRP and PRF combine particularly well with microneedling, RF, and scalp care for amplified results. Your provider will design a treatment plan, not push a single product.
Bright, welcoming, and run by people who genuinely care about your experience and your long-term results.
Prep 101
Your Treatment Timeline

You Review
Your provider will assess your concern, examine the treatment area, and recommend whether PRP, PRF, or a combination with other treatments suits your goals. For hair restoration, this includes a scalp assessment and a realistic conversation about what regenerative treatments can and cannot do. No pressure, no hard sell.

Onboarding
Drink plenty of water in the 24 hours before your appointment, as good hydration makes the blood draw easier. Eat beforehand. Avoid blood thinners including ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, and vitamin E for a few days where possible. For scalp treatments, come with clean, product-free hair.

Ongoing Care
Your provider will draw a small sample of your blood, similar to a routine lab draw, and process it in-center to prepare the active concentrate. Topical numbing is applied before injection. The injection phase is spicy but quick. For combination treatments with microneedling, the PRP or PRF is applied topically after the microneedling pass.

Maintenance and Transition
For scalp treatments, avoid washing your hair for the first six hours, then return to your normal routine. For facial treatments, avoid heavy skincare, retinoids, and exfoliants for 48 hours. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and direct sun for 24 hours. Your provider will share specific aftercare for your protocol.
Immediate, then more so.
For hair restoration, the timeline is longer.
Most clients see reduced shedding within the first one to two months and visible density improvement at four to six months. A typical course is three to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, followed by maintenance every six to 12 months. PRP and PRF work best for early to moderate concerns. Advanced hair loss or significant volume loss may benefit from combining regenerative protocols with other treatments. Your provider will set realistic expectations at your You Review.

PRF stands for platelet-rich fibrin. It is the newer generation of regenerative blood-based treatment. PRF uses a slower processing speed that preserves a wider range of cellular components in a fibrin scaffold that releases growth factors over a longer period. Many providers prefer PRF for its sustained release profile.
Neither is universally better. PRP has the longer clinical track record and is well-established for hair restoration, under-eye rejuvenation, and skin quality. PRF releases growth factors more gradually, which some providers prefer for certain applications. Your provider will recommend the right option at your You Review.
A vampire facial is one specific application of PRP, where PRP is applied topically after a microneedling pass to amplify the collagen response. PRP and PRF have many applications beyond that, including scalp injection for hair restoration and facial injection for under-eye rejuvenation.
Common applications include thinning hair and early hair loss, scalp health, under-eye hollowing and dark circles, surface tone, texture, and skin quality, combined with microneedling for amplified collagen response, and accelerating healing post-procedure.
Yes. Because PRP and PRF are made from your own blood, the risk of allergic or immune reaction is essentially zero. They are well-tolerated and have been used in aesthetic and medical practice for decades.
Yes. Regenerative treatments are protocol-led, often combined with other procedures, and the right approach depends on your specific concern. Every OrangeTwist client starts with a complimentary You Review where your provider will design the right protocol for you.
Your provider will examine your scalp, discuss your hair loss pattern and history, ask about family hair loss, and assess what regenerative treatments can realistically achieve for your specific case. They will walk through the course structure, timelines, and pricing transparently.
Let your provider know about any medical conditions, medications (especially blood thinners and hormone medications), hair loss history and family history, recent cosmetic treatments, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Pricing depends on the protocol (PRP or PRF), the treatment area, and the number of sessions. Because regenerative treatments work best as a course, OrangeTwist prices full protocols transparently at your You Review. TwistUp members receive exclusive pricing benefits.
Allow 60 to 90 minutes for a typical session. This includes time for blood draw, processing, numbing cream to take effect, and the injection phase.
Most protocols call for three to four initial sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, followed by maintenance every six to 12 months. Your provider will design the right course at your You Review.
Yes. OrangeTwist offers financing through CareCredit, Alle Cherry, and PatientFi. Ask your provider about options at your You Review.
For facial treatments, you will see brightness and improved texture within two to four weeks, with deeper improvement building over three to six months. For hair restoration, most clients see reduced shedding within one to two months and visible density improvement at four to six months.
Most clients see results lasting 12 to 18 months from a full course, with maintenance sessions every six to 12 months to keep results building.
PRP works best on hair follicles that are still active but weakened, not on follicles that are fully dormant. For early to moderate hair thinning, results can be significant. For advanced loss, your provider will set realistic expectations and may recommend combining regenerative treatment with other approaches.
No treatment works for everyone. Response varies between individuals based on genetics, age, the underlying cause of the concern, and other factors. Your provider will give you an honest assessment of what to expect at your You Review.
The blood draw feels like a routine lab draw, brief and easily managed. Injection of PRP or PRF is spicy but manageable with topical numbing. Most clients find it quick and contained.
Most clients return to normal activities immediately. For facial injections, expect mild redness, swelling, or pinpoint bruising that settles within 24 to 48 hours. For scalp treatments, the area may be tender for a day or two.
For 24 to 48 hours: avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot showers, alcohol, and direct sun. Avoid heavy skincare, retinoids, and exfoliants. For scalp treatments, avoid washing your hair for six hours. Your provider will share specific aftercare for your protocol.
Yes. PRP and PRF often combine well with microneedling, RF microneedling, fractional laser, and PRX. The combination amplifies the collagen response and can accelerate results. Your provider will design the right sequence at your You Review.
Yes. Because PRP and PRF are made from your own blood, the risk of allergic or immune reaction is essentially zero. Both have been used in medical and aesthetic practice for decades with a strong safety record.
PRP and PRF are generally not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active blood disorder or are on certain blood thinners, have an active infection in the treatment area, have certain autoimmune conditions, have active cancer or a history of certain cancers, or have a history of keloid scarring. Always disclose your full medication and health history at your You Review.
Common side effects include temporary redness, swelling, mild bruising, and tenderness at the injection sites. Scalp treatments may cause temporary increased shedding in the first few weeks, which is a normal part of the hair cycle reset. Your provider will walk through risks at your You Review.
Yes. PRP and PRF work independently of skin tone and are safe across all skin types.
It depends on the medication and dose. Some blood thinners affect the platelet count and quality that make PRP and PRF effective. Your provider will assess at your You Review and advise whether treatment is appropriate.
All PRP and PRF treatments at OrangeTwist are performed by licensed providers with specific training on the protocol, supervised by our Medical Advisory Board.
