Radiesse at OrangeTwist
Volume now, collagen later. Radiesse delivers immediate definition the moment it is injected, then keeps working for months by stimulating your own collagen and elastin. One product, two jobs. A favorite for jawline, cheeks, and the often-overlooked back of the hands.
About the treatment

Volume that builds for itself.
Radiesse is a different kind of filler. The microspheres deliver immediate volume the moment they are injected, and then stay in place as scaffolding while your own body produces new collagen and elastin around them. The visible result builds on itself.
- Immediate volume plus collagen build
- FDA-approved for face and hands
- Long-lasting structural support
What is Radiesse and how does it work?
Radiesse is an FDA-approved injectable made from calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. Calcium hydroxylapatite is a substance found naturally in human bones and teeth, which is why Radiesse is so well tolerated. When injected, the gel delivers immediate volume in the treatment area, while the microspheres remain in place as a structural scaffold.
Over the weeks and months that follow, the body responds to the microspheres by producing new collagen and elastin around them. This is what distinguishes Radiesse from pure hyaluronic acid fillers: the volume you see at the moment of treatment is just the start. The deeper, longer-lasting result is built by your own tissue.
Radiesse is FDA-approved for moderate to severe wrinkles and folds in the face, and for restoring volume in the back of the hands, a particularly common area of age-related volume loss. Hands are an area many clients forget until they see their face refreshed and notice the contrast.
Some providers use a hyperdilute Radiesse protocol, where the product is diluted with saline and lidocaine and injected more superficially to stimulate skin quality, tightness, and collagen across larger areas. This use is off-label and protocol-led. Your provider will discuss whether it is right for you at your You Review.

The OrangeTwist Difference
Radiesse requires advanced injector technique, particularly for structural areas like jawline and chin. Every Radiesse treatment at OrangeTwist is performed by a licensed provider with specific training on the product.
Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Radiesse is not reversible with hyaluronidase. This is why product selection and dosing matter, and why our providers start conservatively and build incrementally where appropriate.
Hands are one of the first areas to give age away and one of the most under-treated. Radiesse is FDA-approved for the back of the hands and is one of the most rewarding off-face indications.
Radiesse often combines with other fillers and biostimulators for a comprehensive result. Your provider will design a treatment sequence, not push a single product.

Your Treatment Timeline

You Review
Your provider will examine the areas you want to address, confirm Radiesse is the right product for the result you want, and discuss whether a combination with other fillers or biostimulators would suit your goals better. They will walk through pricing transparently.

Onboarding
Avoid blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, and vitamin E for a few days before your appointment where possible. Skip alcohol for 24 hours beforehand. Avoid intensive workouts the morning of. Come in with a clean face. Eat beforehand. Hydrate.

Ongoing Care
Your provider will mark the injection points and apply a topical numbing cream. Radiesse can be mixed with lidocaine on the day for additional comfort. The procedure takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on the areas being treated. Most clients find the spicy end manageable.

Maintenance and Transition
Expect some swelling, mild bruising, and tenderness for 24 to 72 hours. Use cool compresses, sleep elevated, and avoid pressure on the treated area for 24 hours. Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol, and heat exposure for the first 24 to 48 hours. Your provider will share specific aftercare for your treatment areas.
Immediate, then more so.
Radiesse delivers immediate volume the moment it is injected. Initial swelling typically masks the final outcome for the first one to two weeks. As the swelling settles, the immediate result becomes clear, and the deeper collagen-led improvement continues to build over the following three to six months.
Results typically last 12 to 18 months, longer in some areas like the back of the hands.
Your provider will map out a realistic maintenance schedule at your You Review.

Radiesse is an FDA-approved injectable made from calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a gel carrier. It delivers immediate volume on injection and stimulates your own collagen and elastin production in the months that follow. The result builds on itself.
The gel carrier delivers immediate volume in the treatment area. The calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres stay in place as a structural scaffold, and the body responds by producing new collagen and elastin around them over the following weeks and months.
Both. Radiesse is one of the few products that does both jobs in one injection. It is a true filler in the sense that it adds volume immediately, and a biostimulator in the sense that it triggers your own collagen production over time.
No. Radiesse is made from calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres, not hyaluronic acid. This is a key clinical distinction because it means Radiesse cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase the way HA fillers can.
Hyperdilute Radiesse is an off-label protocol where the product is diluted with saline and lidocaine and injected more superficially across larger areas to stimulate skin quality, tightness, and collagen. Your provider will discuss whether this suits your goals at your You Review.
FDA-approved areas include moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (commonly nasolabial folds, marionette lines) and the back of the hands. Off-label clinical uses include jawline definition, chin projection, and cheek volume. Your provider will confirm what is appropriate for your goals.
Yes. Because Radiesse is not reversible the way hyaluronic acid fillers are, careful product selection and conservative dosing matter even more. Every OrangeTwist client starts with a complimentary You Review.
Good candidates are clients with moderate to advanced volume loss, structural laxity, or specific concerns like marionette lines or hand volume loss that suit a longer-lasting, collagen-building product. Your provider will assess honestly at your You Review.
Let your provider know about any medical conditions, medications (especially blood thinners), allergies (including lidocaine if Radiesse will be mixed with it), previous cosmetic injections, and any recent facial procedures.
Pricing depends on the number of syringes needed and the protocol. Hyperdilute Radiesse is typically priced differently from traditional Radiesse due to dilution ratios. Your provider will walk through exact pricing at your You Review.
Most sessions take 30 to 45 minutes. Hyperdilute protocols across larger body areas may take longer.
Most clients see meaningful results from a single session for traditional Radiesse, with optional touch-up sessions for further refinement. Hyperdilute protocols may call for a series. Your provider will recommend a plan at your You Review.

Volume is visible immediately. Swelling masks the final outcome for the first one to two weeks. As the swelling settles, the immediate result becomes clear, and the deeper collagen-led improvement continues to build over three to six months.
Twelve to 18 months on average, longer in some areas such as the back of the hands. Hyperdilute protocols deliver progressive skin quality improvement over a longer timeline. Your provider will set realistic expectations at your You Review.
Not the way hyaluronic acid fillers can. Radiesse is not affected by hyaluronidase. The product is biodegradable and is gradually metabolized by the body. This is why conservative dosing at the outset matters.
When done well, yes. Radiesse particularly suits clients wanting structural support and definition where natural-looking results read as firmer and more defined rather than visibly filled.
For the first 24 to 48 hours: avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot environments; do not apply pressure to or massage the treated areas; avoid alcohol; sleep on your back elevated where possible; hold off on facials, lasers, or any procedure on the treated area for two weeks.
Mild swelling typically peaks at 24 to 48 hours and settles over the following days. Bruising, when it occurs, usually fades within a week.
Light walking is fine. Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, and anything that increases blood pressure or heat to the face for 24 hours. Return to your full routine after that.
Radiesse has a strong clinical safety record dating to its FDA approval in 2006. Calcium hydroxylapatite is biocompatible and well tolerated. At OrangeTwist, every treatment is performed by a licensed provider with advanced injector training.
Radiesse is generally not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a known allergy to any component of the product or lidocaine, have an active skin infection in the treatment area, have certain autoimmune conditions, or have a history of keloid scarring. Always disclose your full medication and health history at your You Review.
Common side effects include temporary swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness at the injection sites, all of which resolve within days. Rare side effects include nodule formation, particularly if the product is placed superficially. Your provider will walk through specific risks at your You Review.
Yes. Radiesse works independently of skin tone and is safe across all skin types.
All Radiesse treatments at OrangeTwist are performed by licensed medical professionals with specific advanced injector training, supervised by our Medical Advisory Board.
