Glo2Facial: The three-in-one facial treatment explained

Glo2Facial is a non-invasive facial treatment that exfoliates, oxygenates and nourishes your skin in a single appointment. Using a three-step process, it helps leave skin looking brighter, smoother and more refreshed with little to no downtime. It’s suitable for most skin types and can be tailored to your individual skin concerns.

Key takeaways:

  • Glo2Facial is a three-step oxygenating facial from Lumenis, formerly known as OxyGeneo.
  • The three steps are exfoliation, active serum infusion, and an oxygenating effect triggered at the surface of the skin.
  • Capsugen is the proprietary capsule that drives the chemical reaction behind the oxygenating effect.
  • Three formulas are available: Hydrate, Balance, and Revive. Your esthetician selects the right one on the day.
  • There is no downtime. Most clients see visible brightening and plumping before they walk out the door.
  • Glo2Facial is available at OrangeTwist Highland Village and is bookable as a standalone or as part of a monthly routine.

What is Glo2Facial?

Developed by Lumenis, Glo2Facial was previously known as OxyGeneo, so you may still see that name online. While the branding has changed, the technology behind the treatment remains the same.

The treatment combines gentle exfoliation, targeted serum infusion and a natural oxygenating response that encourages your skin to look healthier and more radiant. All three steps happen during the same appointment using a single device.

At OrangeTwist Highland Village, every Glo2Facial begins with a complimentary You Review. Your licensed esthetician will assess your skin, discuss your goals and recommend the most appropriate treatment formula before you begin.

How do Glo2Facials work?

Glo2Facial works in three sequential actions. Understanding each one helps explain why the results look the way they do.

Step one: exfoliation

Your esthetician begins by working the Glo2Facial handpiece across your skin using a Capsugen capsule, which is the proprietary treatment capsule at the center of the technology. As the capsule is applied, it gently resurfaces the outermost layer of dead skin cells, clearing away the buildup that makes skin look dull, rough and congested..

This is not the abrasive exfoliation you might associate with a scrub or a dermaplaning session. The capsule works through a combination of gentle mechanical action and the chemical reaction that follows, which is what makes the next two steps possible.

Step two: active serum infusion

As the capsule interacts with the skin, active serums are simultaneously driven into the skin’s surface. The formula your esthetician selects determines which serums are being infused.

The three core Glo2Facial formulas are: Hydrate, designed for dehydration and tired surface texture; Balance, designed for oily or congested skin; and Revive, focused on early signs of aging, dullness, and uneven tone.

Your esthetician will have assessed your skin at your You Review before selecting the formula that suits your skin on the day, not a generic protocol applied to everyone.

Step three: the oxygenating effect

This is what gives Glo2Facial its name, and it is the step that separates it from most other facials on the menu.

As the Capsugen capsule reacts with your skin, it creates a mild CO2-rich environment at the surface. Your body’s natural response to that environment is to direct fresh, oxygen-rich blood to the area being treated, a biological process known as the Bohr Effect. The result is a noticeable plumping, brightening, and renewed radiance that becomes visible within minutes of the treatment finishing.

This oxygenating effect is not topical. It is triggered from within your own skin. That is why the results look different from a standard moisturizing facial, and why clients often describe the glow as coming from somewhere underneath the surface rather than sitting on top of it.

What is Capsugen and how does it work?

Capsugen is the proprietary treatment capsule system developed by Lumenis for use with the Glo2Facial device. It is what makes the three-step sequence possible in a single handheld pass across the skin.

Each Capsugen capsule contains the active formula ingredients for a specific Glo2Facial treatment, Hydrate, Balance, or Revive. When the capsule is applied to the skin, it releases those actives and simultaneously initiates the CO2 reaction that prompts the oxygenating response.

The capsule is what allows Glo2Facial to personalize the treatment without switching devices, products, or protocols mid-session. Your esthetician selects the correct capsule for your skin at your You Review, and that capsule determines the formula delivered in steps two and three.

The Capsugen system is unique to the Lumenis Glo2Facial platform. No other facial uses the same mechanism, which is part of why Glo2Facial produces the specific kind of from-within brightening effect it is known for.

What concerns does Glo2Facial treat?

Glo2Facial is one of the more versatile facial treatments available because the three-step framework can be directed at different concerns depending on the formula used. It is not a single-concern treatment.

  • Dullness and flat, tired surface skin
  • Dehydration and surface dryness
  • Oily or congested skin
  • Early signs of aging, including fine lines and uneven texture
  • Surface tone and brightness
  • Pre-event prep and on-the-day refresh

If you’re looking to address concerns such as significant pigmentation or acne scarring, your esthetician may recommend combining Glo2Facial with other treatments – such as chemical peels, microneedling, or laser – as part of a personalised plan. Your You Review consultation is where that conversation happens.

What are the benefits of Glo2Facial?

The Glo2Facial benefits clients talk about most are the immediate ones. Most people see brighter, plumper, and more rested-looking skin within minutes of the treatment finishing. The result builds slightly over the following 24 hours as the active serums continue working.

Most clients see results lasting two to four weeks from a single session. For consistent results, monthly maintenance is the most common cadence. Combined with HydraFacial, regular skincare, and other treatments in a plan, Glo2Facial becomes part of an ongoing skincare routine rather than a one-off refresh.

Some of the specific Glo2Facial benefits that make it a regular fixture in people’s routines:

  • No downtime, so it fits around a normal day
  • Suitable for all skin types and tones
  • Visible results on the day of treatment
  • Customizable to your skin’s specific concern
  • Gentle enough for sensitive skin
  • Can be used as a pre-event facial for an on-the-day boost

Glo2Facial does not target pigment, so it is safe across all skin tones without the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation that some more aggressive treatments carry.

Glo2Facial vs HydraFacial: What’s the difference?

This is the question most clients land on eventually, and it is a fair one. Both treatments have three steps, both are done in under an hour, and both deliver visible results with no downtime. So why are they different?

The short answer: they work through different mechanisms and address slightly different concerns.

HydraFacial uses a vortex extraction tip to physically remove debris from pores and deliver hydrating serums simultaneously. It is particularly effective for congested skin, clogged pores, and dehydration. The extraction step makes it one of the most thorough deep-cleansing facials available.

Glo2Facial works through the Capsugen capsule and the oxygenating response it triggers. Rather than pulling things out, it is driving actives in and prompting your skin to respond from within. The result is a brighter, more refreshed and awake look.

Neither is categorically better. They suit different skin types, different concerns, and different days. Many clients at OrangeTwist include both in their routine, using HydraFacial for deeper cleansing months and Glo2Facial as a lighter reset or pre-event treatment.
