What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin, prompting a natural repair response. At OrangeTwist Fort Worth South we use SkinPen, the first FDA-cleared microneedling device and among the most studied on the market, with adjustable depth so your provider can treat delicate zones and tougher scar tissue differently within the same session.

Preparation
Stop retinoids and exfoliants several days before your session and arrive with cleansed skin. We apply numbing cream for about 20 minutes before we begin. Let your provider know if you have a history of cold sores so we can plan around it.
The Treatment
Your provider works in overlapping passes, adjusting depth by zone, with a treatment serum applied throughout. Sessions run 30 to 60 minutes depending on the areas treated. Most clients describe a light prickly buzz, more spicy than sore.
Aftercare
Expect to look flushed and feel tight, like a mild sunburn, for about 24 hours. Use a gentle cleanser and the serums we provide, wear SPF 30 or higher, and skip makeup, hard workouts, and active skincare for a day or two.

Microneedling at our Fort Worth center is performed by Jennifer Flores, NP and Natalia Jackson, RN, under the medical oversight of James Goggin, MD. Both work with the SkinPen device, and the center has a centrifuge on site for PRP.

Acne scarring is one of microneedling’s strongest use cases. The micro-channels prompt fresh collagen to rebuild within the scar tissue, softening rolling and boxcar scars over a series. Your provider will read your scar type at the You Review and tell you honestly what to expect.
In licensed hands with a fresh sterile cartridge, microneedling is very safe. It is not for clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection or cold sore, are mid severe breakout, or have recently used isotretinoin. Your You Review covers all of it.
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is drawn from a small sample of your own blood, spun in our on-site centrifuge, and applied during your session so the growth factors reach the micro-channels directly.
