Laser hair removal uses targeted light energy to destroy hair follicles at the root, preventing future hair growth in the treated area. It is one of the most widely performed aesthetic treatments globally. At our SJC center, every treatment is delivered using the Splendor X system, the latest dual-wavelength laser on the market, by Registered Nurses.
How laser hair removal works
The laser emits a wavelength of light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in your hair. That energy converts to heat, which damages the hair follicle and prevents it from producing new hair. Because hair grows in cycles, multiple sessions are needed to catch every follicle at the right growth phase.
Why Splendor X is the upgrade
Splendor X combines two wavelengths (755nm Alexandrite and 1064nm Nd:YAG) in a single device, which means it works on more skin types and hair colours than single-wavelength lasers. Preparation
Shave the treatment area the day before (do not wax, pluck, or epilate, the laser needs the root intact). Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for two weeks beforehand (vital in south OC). Come in with clean, product-free skin.
The Treatment
Your provider will apply a cooling gel and guide the Splendor X handpiece across the treatment area. Each pulse feels like a quick snap of warm rubber band. Treatment times range from a few minutes for the upper lip to around 45 minutes for full legs.
Aftercare
Mild redness or sensitivity is normal for a few hours. Avoid sun exposure, hot showers, and intensive exercise for 24 hours. Use SPF 30 or higher on the treated area for the next two weeks (south OC sun is no joke). Hair will start to shed over the following two weeks. That is normal.
