What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are FDA-approved gels made from hyaluronic acid, a substance the body produces naturally. When injected into specific areas of the face, they restore volume, smooth lines, and refine contours by sitting in the layer of skin where the body’s own hyaluronic acid has thinned over time. At OrangeTwist Tustin, every filler injection is carried out by a Nurse Practitioner or Registered Nurse with specific training in facial anatomy and product selection.
How dermal fillers work
Different filler products are designed for different jobs. Softer formulations sit closer to the surface for lip enhancement and fine lines. Denser, more structural formulations work deeper to rebuild cheekbone, jawline, and chin definition. Your injector chooses the right product for the job, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
The products we offer
Our Tustin center stocks Juvederm as our lead HA filler family (Voluma, Volbella, Vollure, Volux, Ultra XC, Skinvive), alongside RHA, Restylane, and Versa products selected for the specific area being treated. We also offer Sculptra (a collagen-stimulating biostimulator) and Radiesse for hand rejuvenation. Ashley Paz specifically delivers both. Your injector will walk through which product makes sense for your face and why.
Why reversible matters
Because hyaluronic acid fillers are reversible, the treatment is one of the most controllable in aesthetic medicine. If a result is not quite right, your injector can dissolve the filler with hyaluronidase. That safety net is non-negotiable for us, and it is a question worth asking anywhere you book.

What to Expect at Your Tustin Filler Appointment
From the first hello to the moment you walk back out to the parking lot at Pavilions, here is how a dermal filler visit at OrangeTwist Tustin actually runs.
Your You Review
Your injector will examine your face, listen to your goals, and walk through what fillers can and cannot achieve. They will recommend specific products and amounts, and walk through pricing transparently. No pressure to proceed on the day.
Preparation
Avoid blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, and vitamin E for a few days beforehand where possible. Skip alcohol for 24 hours. Avoid intensive workouts the morning of. Come in with a clean face. Eat beforehand. Hydrate. Note that filler and laser treatments at Tustin are scheduled at least two weeks apart, plan accordingly.
The Treatment
Your injector will mark the injection points and apply a topical numbing cream. Most filler products also contain lidocaine, which makes the injections themselves more comfortable. The procedure takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the areas being treated. Most clients find the spicy end of each injection manageable.
Aftercare
Expect some swelling, mild bruising, and tenderness for 24 to 72 hours. Use cool compresses, sleep elevated, and avoid pressure on the treated area for 24 hours. Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol, and heat exposure (saunas, hot yoga) for 24 to 48 hours. Your injector will share specific aftercare for your treatment areas.

One to two weeks after
Swelling settles and the filler integrates with the surrounding tissue. It softens visually and reads as part of your face rather than an addition to it. This is when most clients see what they actually paid for.

Six to eighteen months
Results last anywhere from six to eighteen months depending on the product, the area treated, and how your body metabolises hyaluronic acid. Lips tend to need more frequent touch-ups. Sculptra results build over months and last around two years.
