What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are FDA-approved gels made from hyaluronic acid, a substance the body produces naturally. When injected into specific areas of the face, they add or restore volume, soften lines, and refine contours. Results are visible immediately and last from six to eighteen months depending on the product and area treated.
How dermal fillers work
Different filler products are designed for different jobs. Softer formulations sit closer to the surface for lip enhancement and fine lines. Denser, more supportive products lift and restore volume in the cheeks, jawline, and chin. Your injector selects the product based on the area, the depth of correction needed, and your anatomy.

Why reversible matters
Because hyaluronic acid fillers are reversible, the treatment is one of the most controllable in aesthetic medicine. If a result is not quite right, your injector can dissolve the filler with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. That single fact is why this is one of the most forgiving injectables on the market.

You Review
Your injector will examine your face, listen to your goals, and walk through what fillers can and cannot achieve. They will recommend specific products and amounts, and walk through pricing transparently. No pressure to proceed on the day.

Preparation
Avoid blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, and vitamin E for a few days beforehand where possible. Skip alcohol for 24 hours. Come with a clean face. That is about it.
The Treatment
Your injector will mark the injection points and apply a topical numbing cream. Most filler products also contain lidocaine, which makes the injection process more comfortable than people expect. The treatment takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area.
Aftercare
Expect some swelling, mild bruising, and tenderness for 24 to 72 hours. Use cool compresses, sleep elevated, and avoid pressure on the treated area for the first evening. Skip intense exercise, alcohol, and heat for 24 hours.
